Texas RenFest 2001: Shops

I don't really have too many closeups of items in the shops, because most artists don't want their work photographed. I can sorta understand - I guess they're afraid someone will see their designs and steal them. And as someone who's had their own work stolen, I can definitely understand the frustration. Still, if nobody sees your work, how will you get new customers, or develop your reputation? Why bother being an artist if not to let your work be SEEN? I think art was meant to be shared, regardless of the risk of theft by lowlife scumbags. Best you can do is copyright it and hire a good lawyer, I guess.

The Good Sun - plaster castings of sun/moon faces. These are really neat, but of course I already own several of them.
Official Renfest mugs
A stained glass shop.
Faire clothing
Pottery
Prints and paintings
Sparklies (crystals and stuff)
Wee Peeple garden - part of an attached shop, some interesting handmade dolls by Kandra (website) was one of the two shops at the faire that really fascinated me, although I ended up not buying a doll... this time. I still love the little garden tho. They're like elves hiding out in the garden...
Another look at the Wee Peeple garden.
White wizards sculptures.
Armory
The peaceful corner of an ironworks shop.
Working the iron.
Frilly hairpieces.
Chainmail for the ladies, leather armor for the guys.
Wooden sculptures.
Music of the Spheres wind chimes.
Big wooden dragon flying over this shop. His wings flap (well, if the guy hiding on the right pulls the cord that makes him fly, anyway.)
Angel Sword doing good business. They have two shops at the faire. Sword shops seem to be one of the most popular - although I can't recall seeing too many of them this year, just Angel and one other. Perhaps I missed some though, swords aren't my thing (any more).
Ok, this is the coolest. In the back there is this glass shop, and inside were two guys creating glass works...
One of the glassworkers, working on a new piece, whilst surrounded by a galaxy of sparkling glass critters. They really had a lot of nice stuff here, and I ended up buying one of the beautiful glass dragons. You can see one similar to what I got on the left side of this pic...
The other glassworker, creating a new piece. He's also surrounded by dragons and other flying glass critters.
Here's a photo of the glass dragon I bought. The flash shows off his coloring pretty well although he's actually more translucent than he seems to be in this pic. Very cool. Now I gotta figure out where to hang him. :)
