Keeneland Racecourse

I visited Lexington Kentucky in April 2002, and got to see my first live horse race at Keeneland. It's a bit overwhelming to a newbie; I'm more interested in the horses, but clearly this is big business and there's big money involved, both for the owners and for the bettors. I didn't bet, just tried to watch and enjoy the racing.

Keeneland has a beautiful shady paddock area, right behind the grandstands. There was even a fellow there painting portraits of the horses walking around before the races.
